Biography

Indah Arsyad is an Indonesian contemporary artist born in Ambon in 1965. With a background in landscape and environmental technology from Trisakti University, her practice explores urban life, environmental pollution, and ecological awareness.
Working across painting, photography, sculpture, video, and installation, Indah develops research-based projects that examine the relationship between human activity, urban systems, and ecological change. Her works often combine artistic experimentation with environmental inquiry, using diverse materials and media.
Indah has exhibited widely in Indonesia and internationally. Her major solo exhibitions include The Ultimate Breath at Weltmuseum Wien, Vienna; Ocean's Whispers at Cemara 6 Gallery Museum Toeti Heraty; and On the Way at the National Museum of Indonesia.
Her works have also been presented at Klima Biennale Wien, ARTJOG, Indonesia Bertutur, ARTSUB, ROH Projects, Can's Gallery, Cuturi Gallery, and the National Gallery of Indonesia, as well as exhibitions in London, Manila, South Korea, China, and India.
Through collaborations with researchers, institutions, and local communities, Indah continues to explore the role of art in raising awareness around pollution, sustainability, and ecological responsibility.
